MANILA, Philippines - Aside from the ongoing 33rd National Milo Marathon, two more big-time foot races are in store for running enthusiasts and competitive runners in Metro Manila next month.
On March 8, the 10th annual DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan flags off at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
This benefit run is expected to draw at least 5,000 participants in the 10K, 5K and 3K events. Proceeds of this advocate race will help in the rehabilitation of the La Mesa Watershed, which provides water to 12 million residents of Metro Manila.
The defending champion in the centerpiece 10K event here are Eduardo Buenavista and Mercedita Fetalvero, who are also the reigning King and Queen of the Milo Marathon.
Trophies, medals and cash prizes amounting to P80,000 are at stake for the winners.
A special award for the oldest and youngest runners will also be handed out after the race.
On March 22, another benefit race will be held at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
The Condura Run for the Whale Sharks of Donsol is also expected to gather 5,000 runners including last year’s 10K event women’s winner Fetalvero, who has not lost a 10K race on Philippine soil since 1998.The Condura run will have competition in the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K events. Runners joining the 21K race will experience for the first time running in the Skyway, a first in the country’s road racing history.
Registration for the DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan and the Condura Run for the Whale Sharks of Donsol is ongoing at the ground floor of Vasquez Madrigal Bldg. at 51 Annapolis St. in Greenhills San Juan City.
Registration fee for the DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan is P150. Registrant will be issued running singlets upon registration and all finishers will receive certificates of completion.
Entry fees for the Condura Run is P500 for the 21K and P300 for the 3K, 5K, and 10K events. A one-size commemorative Condura Run for the Whale Sharks shirt is also issued to all participants upon registration. Those interested may also log on to www.condurarun.com for more information.
