LUCENA CITY – Routs marked Day One of the Quezon Province leg of the 2009 Smart Liga Pilipinas Conference II with host Quezon thumping Zamboanga, 103-60, at the Quezon Convention Center here last Wednesday.
The Red Oilers, owned by Gov. Raffy Nantes, outscored the Zambos, 19-9, in the second quarter which they used as a springboard to post the lopsided win.
So dominating were the Oliver Bunyi-coached Oilers as they built leads of as many as 45 points, 103-58.
Jorel Canizares led the Red Oilers with 13 points while Rob Labagala poured all his 12 points in the final period. The event is supported by Smart, ML Kwarta Padala, Air 21, Accel, Burlington, Laptop Phoneshop, Nature’s Spring and Molten and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
Earlier, the Ilocos Sur Bravehearts of Gov. DV Savellano and coach Gino Manuel blasted the Iloilo Mang Inasals, 70-52.
Ismael Junio scattered eight points in the second quarter as the Bravehearts pulled away at 31-22 and never looked back.
