Top foreign fighters to compete in Colt 45

Zhang Tie Quan, one of China’s most feared mixed martial fighters, and newly-crowned bantamweight champion Justin Cruz of FOKAI Guam will see action in the Colt 45-Universal Reality Combat Championship “Indestructible” slated Nov. 22 at the A. Venue Events Hall on Makati Avenue, Makati City.

Zhang, who defeated Filipino Badong Dumasian in the URCC 6 “Art of War,” will be up against middleweight champion Caloy Baduria.

Cruz, on the other hand, will meet undefeated flyweight champion Kevin Belingon of Lakay Wushu Team in a superfight, which is the highlight of URCC’s sixth anniversary presentation.

“They should expect a lot of action that only our fighters can provide. We constantly search for the best to fight in the URCC ring,” said Alvin Aguilar, URCC founder and president.

“URCC is celebrating its sixth year and I’m happy that all mixed martial arts fans believe in what we’re doing. We will continue putting up good fights and, hopefully, we will someday get the chance to show the world that Filipino fighters are the best in the world,” Aguilar added.

Welterweight champion Edward Folayang, a Southeast Asian Games medalist and Lakay Wushu’s most promising fighter, defeated Baduria in a superfight during the Colt 45-URCC 7 “Supremacy.”

Folayang hopes to retain his title against up and coming Hybrid Yawyan fighter Jerry Legaspi, who won his second professional bout against national wrestling team mainstay Karlo Sevilla in the Rogue Magazine Black Tie Brawl held recently.

In other matches, undefeated pinweight champion Roy Docyogen of Lakay Wushu battles Jesus Rabadon, another member of the national wrestling team; Carl Sbiniano of Hybrid Yawyan faces newcomer Ali Khatibi of DEFTAC in the featherweight division while Gelo Reyes of DEFTAC, a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, meets Kyokonshin Karate expert John Naval.

The tournament, sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board headed by Eric Buhain, is sponsored by Pony, No Fear, Yoshinoya, E-Games, Solar Sports and Jack TV.
