Manila hosts ‘Sports for All’ congress

The Philippine Sports For All Association (PSFAA) will host the ninth Asiania Sports For All Association (ASFAA) Congress slated Nov. 25-28 at the Bayview Park Hotel fronting the Manila Bay. More than 500 delegates from 40-member countries including host RP are expected to attend the four-day event that is expected to discuss issues concerning sports for all programs in Asia and the Oceania regions.

"We hope that through this event we could help map out policies concerning national sports strategies and programs for all sectors of the society," said Josefina Bauzon, a former Philippine Sports commissioner who heads PSFAA. Bauzon, who also chairs the ASFAA Organizing Committee, ushered in the event in a press conference yesterday at the Bayview Park Hotel.

Jean Cordero of Bayview, Henry Tan of Pro Ads Marketing Concepts and representatives from FAME, Inc also graced the launch. Aside from holding discussions and conducting seminars, organizers have also prepared special events like the 5K friendship run, a festival of traditional games like arnis and pencak silat, and aerobic and yoga activities facilitated by Fitness Network Philippines headed by Shirley Tejada.

Also making the event possible are the cities of Manila and Muntinlupa, Bayview, Trim and Fitness, Int., Department of Tourism, Fitness Network Phil., Philippine Normal University and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
