Cagayan Valley meet gets underway

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya More than 5,000 delegates from the regions five provinces are expected to converge at the sprawling Dumlao stadium today for the opening of the Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association meet (CAVRAA).
The Department of Education (DepEd) , which hosts this years athletic meet, said that the delegations are composed of athletes, coaches and representatives of the different participating schools, colleges and universities from the regions five provinces, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Batanes.
Two of the regions three cities Tuguegarao City of Cagayan and Cauayan City of Isabela, will also see action in the five-day athletic meet with this years theme "Sports for Discipline, Teamwork and Excellence."
The provincial government led by Gov. Luisa Lloren-Cuaresma, which will co-host the annual CAVRAA meet, have allocated at least P2.5 million, as the provinces counterpart for the event.
