Harbour Centre twits Magnolia

Harbour Centre cashed in on the absence of Magnolia Fil-Am Kelly Williams to pluck out a 69-61 win in the 2006 PBL Heroes Cup yesterday at the San Andres gym.

The Port Masters, led by LA Tenorio’s 14 points, forged a playoff for a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals against the Hapee-PCU Teeth Sparklers tomorrow at the same venue.

Despite the loss, Magnolia still clinched the other semis spot wih a 7-3 win-loss slate.

Granny Goose, Hapee-PCU and Harbour finished tied at No. 3 on 6-5 cards but the Tortillos had the highest quotient to clinch No. 3 and the first quarterfinal incentive. The Teeth Sparklers and the Port Masters finished at No 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Yousif Aljamal made key baskets in the fourth quarter as Rain or Shine downed Montaña Pawnshop, 69-62, to clinch the top spot in the second game.

Aljamal, who played for several losing teams before joining the Well-best franchise, fired 13 points including 11 in the fourth quarter as the Elasto Painters turned a 42-47 deficit into their eighth win against three losses.
