GMA sends wishes to Pacquiao

President Arroyo extended the Filipino nation’s best wishes for International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao in his explosive bout today in Texas.

President Arroyo sent her prayers for a victory by Pacquiao on the eve of the title bout by the Filipino IBF junior featherweight champion against Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

"I join the nation in wishing our IBF junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao all the best when he faces featherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera in the biggest fight of his career Sunday (Manila time) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas," President Arroyo said in her briefly-worded official statement released by the Palace yesterday.

President Arroyo greeted Pacquiao, who is a close friend of her son, Pampanga Vice Gov. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo.

Pacquiao also dabbles in movies, and always plays the role of a sidekick of the young Arroyo who similarly is into showbiz.
