Prizes galore in Alabangs Mango Tee

A horde of prizes await participants of the Mango Tee, one of the forerunners of the member-guest invitationals in the local golf scene, when the 19th edition of the event is held on Feb. 6-9 at the Alabang Country Club.
While the Mango Tee committee has loaded up on tournament and hole-in-one prizes, there are also interesting prizes to be won during the nightly cocktails, including the latest models of cellular phones from major sponsor Smart.
No less than P650,000 worth of appliances and other items will be added to the P300,000 worth of market-leading equipment being donated by Taylor Made Adidas and the hole-in-one prizes donated by Mitsubishi Motors (Lancer GLS 1600 and Adventure Grand Sport Diesel) and Kart Plaza Manufacturing (Yamaha cart).
Makati Skyline and Standard Chartered Bank are also coming in as major sponsors while Fedex, Turf Company, Pepsi Cola and Security Bank-Diners are on the premium holes.
Hole sponsors are Fedex, Nestle, Pepsi, Security Bank/Diners Club, Acro Industrial, BeneficialPNB Life Insurance, Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corp., Cocolife/Direct Link, Directories Phils., Friend of Mango Tee, Gainers Marketing, GG&A Club Shares, Inc., Golforce Inc., Green Cross, Inc., Golfers Clubshares, Inc., Haji Andi Tabusalla, Hyundai Ortigas, Joseph Rice Mill, Maisog Engineering, Natropin Anti-Aging and Rejuvenation Program.
The grand raffle prize is a Sony television 29-inch and 40 other premium items will be given away during the awards night on Feb. 9 with the popular Rage band set to stir up a fun-filled evening.
Club president Farley Ampil, chairman Jun Galindez and Mango Tee committee head Rene Garovillo lead the hitting of ceremonial balls on Feb. 4 together with invited VIPs coming from the major sponsors.
They are Anastacio Martirez, head of Smarts PCMS, and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Teruhiko Shibata (president and CEO) and Yoshiaki Ichimura (Senior EVP).
The course will be closed on Wednesday in preparation for the influx of the 512 competing members and guests. They will play in two shotgun batches one in the morning and another in the afternoon for two days, either on Thursday and Saturday or Friday and Sunday.
