Intervillage East finals tees off today

Greenhills 1 tries to keep its title-retention drive going today when the final 18 holes of the Nokia Intervillage East tournament featuring eight other teams is played at the west course of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Greenhills 1, which won its first overall crown in the 12-year-old tournament last year, topped the first round of the Nokia East last May 13 at Manila Golf, scoring 284 Stableford points against the 272 of Valle Verde 1 and the 271 of Casa Verde.

Others vying for the three slots to the 36-hole Nokia Grand Intervillage in November are Valle Verde 3 and 4 (269), Greenhills 2 (267), Loyola Grand Villas (264), Monte Vista (263), Valle Verde 6 (258) and Kapitolyo (198).

The tournament organized by Videocom is sponsored by Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, PLDT, Philippine Airlines, Pisanti, Alaxan, ICTSI, Mastercard, National Sports Grill, Mizuno, 357 Boracay, Planet Wine and More Gallery.

Already assured of slots to the November finals are Corinthian Gardens (594), Philam Homes (564) and Don Enrique Heights (558) from the Nokia North and Alabang 400 (557), Tahanan Village (556) and BF Homes (553) from the Nokia South.

The final round of the Nokia Central is scheduled June 25. Wack Wack topped the first 18 holes with 287 points followed by Magallanes (282), Greenmeadows (269), Urdaneta (265), Forbes Park (257) and Bel-Air (247).
