"My constituents and the city government will be all-out in their support to the two-in-one event as they did early this year," he added.
TRAP president Tom Carrasco, who was recently elected to the Philippine Olympic committee executive council, said the biggest number of spectators for a triathlon event was recorded in Dumaguete City last January.
The Philippine Sports Commission, the Dumaguete Millennium Foundation headed by Manuel Sagarbarria, SPEEDO, Negros Navigation, Viva Mineral Water and Asia Pacific Insulation Corp. are the sponsors .
The top performers of the National Triathlon Trials will be part of the Philippine team to the 2001 Asian Triathlon Championships in Sabah, Malaysia on May 19. The top male and female Visayan triathletes for 2000 will also join the Philippine delegation.
The winning team of the inter-club championship will be sent by TRAP to compete in one of the legs of the Asian Cup series.
This year, the victorious Philippine Army-Velocity combine raced in the President Cup Triathlon in Taiwan.
Unlike its inaugurals, the inter-club championships this time will be off limits to the members of the national pool and national training pool. However, the minimum of one female triathlete per team shall be maintained.
