2 institutions hold media conference on biotech
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines —Two international institutions have jointly organized the 2018 edition of the Philippine component of the annual media conference on genetically modified (GM) crops that started on June 26.
The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications (ISAAA) and the Philippine government-hosted Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) are holding the press forum.
Venue of the “Media Conference on the Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops in 2017” is the Acacia Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Since 1996, ISAAA has been publishing an annual report on the global adoption of biotech/GM crops with emphasis on their impact on developing countries, including their contribution to poverty and hunger alleviation.
Dr. Randy Hautea, ISAAA global coordinator, said the results of the report are broadly disseminated and are also featured in a series of national seminars and press conferences in developing countries.
ISAAA is a not-for-profit international network of centers that contribute to the alleviation of poverty and hunger by sharing knowledge and crop biotechnology applications.
