Black propaganda vs ousted Dumaguete PNP chief probed

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – An investigation has been ordered to determine the people behind the circulation of black propaganda material out to malign the name of former chief of the Dumaguete City Police, Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino.

This was confirmed by Supt. Alet Virtucio, deputy director of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, after the command was able to get hold of a piece of paper, circulated since August 24, accusing Tolentino of being involved allegedly in the illegal drugs trade and protecting the drug pushers.

The black propaganda came at the height of an investigation being conducted by NOrPPO over the allegation that Tolentino had intervened in a purported illegal drug operations conducted by the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), and the arrest of suspected pusher Ryan Antipuesto.

Virtucio said that, in NOrPPO’s order of battle validation and workshop, in coordination with all intelligence units regarding drug personalities and protectors, showed that the name of Tolentino was not in the list.

The City Police, under Tolentino, had even conducted 61 anti-illegal drug operations and arrested 84 suspects, who were all charged in court. This showed that Tolentino was dedicated to the service and was never involved in any illegal or nefarious activities.

The contents of the piece of paper circulated in Dumaguete City were baseless and not true, primarily aimed at maligning Tolentino and to discredit the PNP organization as a whole, said Virtucio.  – THE FREEMAN
