Bohol health office raises alert vs. dengue

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines - There were no deaths yet, but with 73 dengue cases already recorded from January to May this year, the Bohol Provincial Health Office has issued an alert against the risk of proliferation of the disease around the province, especially with the onset of the rainy season.

The highest number of documented cases was last March with 22 while the lowest was five in April, said the PHO, adding that January posted 20 cases; February had 19 and May had seven.

The towns where these cases occurred were Alburquerque, Loay, Pilar, and Valencia with one each; Dauis, Lila, and Talibon, two each; Loon and Maribojoc, three each and Tagbilaran City with four during the month of January.

On February, the towns of Anda, Bilar, Catigbian, Lila, Loon, Talibon and Valencia had one case each; Panglao, Jagna and Ubay and Tagbilaran City had two each, and Dauis town had four.

On March, the towns of Anda, Baclayon, Danao, Getafe, Jagna, Maribojoc, Panglao, Tagbilaran, and Trinidad recorded one case each; Carmen, Dauis, Loon and Sierra-Bullones had two each, and Talibon had five.
