Philippine International Arts Festival Visayas to start Feb. 13

CEBU, Philippines - The Visayas launching of the Philippine International Arts Festival (PIAF) 2011 will be held at the Negros Occidental Capitol on February 13 with a three-part grand opening salvo, organizers said.

The PIAF is a month-long celebration of the National Arts Month, which is now on its 20th year, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

The event, also known as "Ani ng Sining," will start with Celebration of Life Through the Arts concert at the Capitol, showcasing the best of Negros Occidental's musical artists. Foreign artists will also join the festivities

Other festival activities will be held in selected sites in the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Silay and Tacloban, the towns of Miag-ao, Oton and San Joaquin, and Boracay island. (FREEMAN)
