Ibon, poultry products galing Australia, bawal na sa Pinas

MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagbabawal na ng Department of Agriculture ang importasyon ng domestic at wild birds mula sa Australia makaraang iulat ng kanilang Chief Veterinary Officer sa World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) na may outbreak ng H7N3 at H7N9, subtypes ng highly pathogenic avian influenza virus ang naturang mga produkto mula sa Mere­dith at Terang sa Victoria, Australia.

Sa Memorandum Order No. 21 na ipinalabas ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., ipinatitigil ng kalihim ang importasyon mula sa Australia ng wild at domestic birds kasama na ang poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs at semen.

Sinuspinde rin ni Tiu Laurel ang pagpapalabas ng Sanitary and Phytosanitary Import Clearances (SPSIC) mula sa Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

Ang Australia ay pang-apat na  bansa na pinagkukunan ng Pilipinas ng imported chicken meat na may total volume na 5,365 metric tons o nasa 4 percent ng kabuuang dami ng chicken imports ng bansa.
