3 Pinay boxers masusubukan

NAY PYI TAW – Masusubukan ngayon ang kakayahan ng tatlong Fi-lipina boxers sa kanilang mga laban sa semifinal round ng women’s boxing competition sa 27th Southeast Asian Games dito sa Wunna Theikdi Stadium .

Nakatakdang sagupain nina light-flyweight Josie Gabuco, flyweight Maricris Igam at bantamweight Irish Magno ang mga lady boxers mula sa Laos at Thailand.

Makakatapat ni Gabuco, ang gold medal winner sa pinweight category sa 2011 SEA Games, si Laotian Sornka Chantavonsra, habang makakalaban nina Igam at Magno sina Supida Satumrum at Peamwilai Loapeam ng Thailand, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Hangad ng tatlong Pinay fighters na makasama sa finals si Nesthy Petecio.

Umabante si Petecio sa gold-medal round matapos talunin si Tassamalee Tsongjan ng Thailand via unanimous decision sa kanilang women’s featherweight semifinal bout noong Martes.

Makakatapat ni Petecio si New Ni ng Myanmar sa finals sa Sabado.

“This tournament is turning into a Philippines-versus-Thailand series,” sabi ni Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) executive director Ed Picson. “They have the experience, we have the youth. Both of us have a lot of boxers in the semis, so this is getting more interesting.”
