MANILA, Philippines - Nabibilang sila sa San Miguel Corporation bilang ‘sister team’.

Ngunit sinabi nina Pe­tron Blaze coach Gee Aba­nilla at San Mig Coffee mentor Tim Cone na magiging pisikal ang ka­nilang best-of-seven cham­pionship series para sa 2014 PBA Governors’ Cup.

“We are all sportsmen here, and if you’re in sports, it’s all about being com­petitive,” wika kaha­pon ni Abanilla. “You have to compete every time, you have to inspire people. We’re gonna go all-out.”

Ito rin ang tiniyak ni Cone, hangad ang kanyang pang-15 PBA title bi­lang head coach.

“We’re sister teams, but we’re certainly not friendly. We’re not friendly to each other, and we’re not gonna be friendly in this series. We’re definitely go at each other,” ani Cone.

Tinalo ng Petron Blaze ang San Mig Coffee, 89-83, sa eliminations.

Ang nasabing panalo ay kasama sa itinalang 11-game winning streak ng Boosters matapos ma­bi­go sa Meralco Bolts sa ka­nilang unang laro sa single round eliminations.

“There hasn’t been much that has bothered Pe­tron so far,” ani Cone. “They are on the roll, we’ve got to figure out some things that can get them out of their comfort zone. And that’s gonna be the key for us because if they play comfortable, they’ll finish the series.”

Sisimulan ng Petron at ng San Mig Coffee ang ka­nilang title series sa Game One bukas ng alas-7:15 ng gabi sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Pinatalsik ng Boosters ang nagdedepensang Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 3-1, sa kanilang best-of-five semifinals series, habang 3-1 din ang iskor ng Mi­xers laban sa Meralco Bolts sa kanilang serye.

Huling nagtagpo sa Fi­nals ang Petron (San Mi­guel Beermen) at San Mig Coffee (Purefoods) sa PBA Finals noong 2000 Go­vernors’ Cup.
