162-atleta na ang kasama sa Myanmar SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines - May162 atleta na ang siguradong kasama sa Phi-lippine delegation na lalaban para sa bansa sa ika-27th edition ng Southeast Asian Games sa December sa Myanmar.

 May ginagawa pang qualification at validation process ang four-man Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Task Force,  kaya lalaki pa ang bilang na ito na ayon kay POC chair Tom Carrasco ay malayong mas mababa sa 534 kataong ipinadala ng Pinas sa Indonesia SEAG, dalawang taon na ang nakakaraan.

Ayon kay Carrasco, president ng Triathlon Association of the Philippines na panauhin kahapon sa SCOOP Sa Kamayan session sa Kamayan Restaurant-Padre Faura, may 86 pang atleta ang kumakatok sa pinto ng task force para makasama.

“Some sports associations still have to complete their selection process, some have athletes competing in Southeast Asian, Asian and world level competitions so we have to wait for their results to determine whe-ther they should go or not,” paliwanag ni  Carrasco. “A ‘lean and mean’ delegation, that’s what will carry the country’s colors in Myanmar. Whether intentionally or otherwise, this number represents what the POC had in mind as per insturctions ordered to us when the task force came into being.”

Kung isasama sa bilang ang mga coaches, team managers at trainers, hindi kasama ang mga adminis-trative staff, secretariat, medical at dietary group, ang Philippine delegation ay posibleng umabot sa mahigit 300 hanggang 350.

Ang Pinas ay nagpadala ng kabuuang 750-katao sa Indonesia noong 2011.
