Phl boxing team sasabak sa Russian tourney

MANILA, Philippines - Lalahok ang PLDT-ABAP boxing team sa Konstantin Korotkov Memorial International Boxing tournament na nakatakda sa Mayo 14-20 sa Khabarovsk, Russia.

Ang mga babandera sa bansa ay sina Rogen Ladon (49kgs), Ian Clark Bautista (52kgs), Mario Fernandez (56kgs), Junel Cantancio (60kgs), World Youth champion Eumir Felix Marcial (64kgs) at Wilfredo Lopez (69kgs).

Sila ay sasamahan nina national coaches Nolito Ve­lasco at Elmer Pamisa.

“Looking ahead to the Myanmar Southeast Asian Games, this tournament is an integral part of our PLDT-ABAP boxers’ overall preparation for that com­­petition,” wika ni ABAP president Ricky Vargas ng Maynilad Water.

Kasalukuyang nasa Cebu ang anim na boxers ka­sama ang anim pa nilang kasamahan kung saan sila nag­sasanay hanggang sa Mayo 9.

Ang anim ay sina London Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga, World Junior bronze medalist Jade Bornea, Nico Magliquian, Dennis Galvan, Asian Games gold medalist Rey Saludar at James Palicte.

May iba pang international tournaments na nasa ka­­lendaryo ng ABAP bago sumabak sa 2013 Southeast Asian Games sa Myanmar sa Disyembre.

Ang mga ito ay ang China Open para sa men at wo­men sa Guiyang (Hunyo 16-24), ang ASBC Bo­xing Championship para sa elite men sa Amman, Jor­dan (Hunyo 30-Hulyo 9), 3rd International Boxing Wo­men’s Tournament sa Astana, Kazakhstan (Agosto 6-12), Taipei City Boxing Tournament (Agosto 14-21), AIBA Junior World sa Kiev, Ukraine (Agosto 17-26), AIBA World Boxing Championships sa Almaty, Kazakhstan (Oktubre 4-20) at ang Tammer Cup para sa elite men sa Tampere, Finland (Nobyembre 21-24).
