Philippines athletes makakapaghanda sa 2025 Thailand SEAG—Tolentino

MANILA, Philippines — May sapat na panahon ang mga Pinoy athletes para paghandaan ang 33rd Southeast Asian Games sa Thailand sa Disyembre ng 2025.

Ito ang kumpiyansang sinabi kahapon ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa kanyang pagdalo sa SEAG Council Federation mee­ting sa Bangkok, Thailand.

“There’s enough time and there are more than enough opportunities,” wika ni Tolentino sa nasabing pulong kung saan inilatag ang official dates, sports at events para sa 33rd edition ng biennial regional games.

Nakatakda ang ope­ning ceremony ng 2025 SEA Games sa Disyembre 9 at ang closing ceremony ay sa Disyembre 20 para sa mga events na lalaruin sa Bangkok, Chonburi at Songkhla.

Kabuuang 581 events ang nakalinya sa 50 sports bukod sa tatlong demons­tration sports kasama ang tug of war at ultimate (freesbee).

Hinirang ang Pilipinas na overall champion nang pamahalaan ang 2005 at 2019 SEA Games bago tumapos sa fourth at fifth place sa Vietnam (2022) at Cambodia 2023), ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“Coming off our Olympic success in Paris and with the growing enthusiasm of our national sports association to make their marks in the SEA Games, our national federations and athletes have enough time to prepare and contend in Thailand,” ani Tolentino.

Idinagdag ng POC chief na sasalang ang mga Pinoy athletes sa halos lahat ng sports sa 2025 Thailand edition para lumaki ang tsansang manalo ng gold medal.

Hinikayat din ni Tolentino ang mga National Sports Associations (NSA) na sundin ang formula na nagresulta sa pagkopo ng bansa ng unang Olympic gold medal mula kay weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo noong Tokyo 2020 at ang double gold medal ni gymnast Carlos Yulo sa Paris 2024.
