Mantua, 2 pa kumubra ng tig-2 gold

ILAGAN CITY, Isabela  , Philippines  —  Tatlong atleta ang nagbulsa ng tig-dalawang gintong medalya papasok sa huling araw ng 2019 Ayala Philippine Athletics Championships kahapon dito sa Isabela Sports Complex.

Naghagis si John Albert Mantua ng 14.66 metro para pagharian ang laba­nan sa men’s shot put kasunod sina Tyronne Exequiel Flores (12.44m) ng NU at Roque Oliver Anasarias (10.85m) ng Adamson.

“Happy naman po ako sa naging performance ko,” sabi ng 25-anyos na tubong General Santos City na si Mantua, nauna nang namuno sa men’s discus throw sa itinalang 46.94m sa Day One.

Dalawang gold medal din ang sinikwat ng 24-an­yos na si Anfernee Lopena matapos bumandera sa men’s 100m (10.63 segundo) at nakabilang sa 4x100m relay team (40.13 segundo) kasama sina Fil-Am Eric Cray, Jomar Udtohan at Clinton Bautista.

Humablot din ng ginto sina four-time SEA Games gold medalist Marestella Torres-Sunang (6.11m) sa women’s long jump, Evalyn Palabrica (47.82m) sa women’s javelin throw, Melvin Calano (62.84m) ng Ilagan City sa men’s ja­velin throw, Narcisa Atienza (12.55m) ng Army sa women’s shot put, Raziebel Fabellon (1.65m) ng Adamson sa women’s high jump.

Sa juniors’ class, nagtakbo ng dalawang gold si Charmaine De Ocampo ng Dasmariñas City Athle­tics mula sa girls’ 800m (2:20.91) at nakasama sa 4x100m relay (50.47) sa grupo nina Charlaine De Ocampo, Aaliyah Ingram at Kristeen Santiago.
