Police officer rules 280K ultra marathon

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - Pilipino Star Ngayon

CEBU, Philippines - Brian Guillen has accomplished something that his fellow policemen will surely be proud of. Not in the firing range nor in the line of duty, but in the athletic field.

Guillen, a policeman assigned in Lapu-Lapu City and competing under the banner of Team Any Day Runners, etched his name in stone after becoming the first champion of Southeast Asia's longest known ultra-marathon, the South to North 280-kilometer race that lasted for three days from Santander in the south to Daanbantayan up north in Cebu.

Guillen's time, however, was not yet revealed by race organizer Jonel Mendoza as of this writing yesterday.

Rodney Cabahug placed second, while Joel Cuyos, champion of the SN250K ultra race last year, could only place third this time.— (FREEMAN)
