Palasyo wala pa ring paliwanag sa pagkakatanggal ni Nora

MANILA, Philippines — Hindi pa rin makapagbigay ng dahilan kung bakit tinanggal ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III si superstar Nora Aunor sa listahan ng National Artist.

Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda na hindi pa nila naipaparating ang isyu sa Pangulo at sinabing sinunod naman nila ang tamang proseso sa pagpili ng mga national artist.

"As far as we are concerned, we went through the process. We exercised the prerogatives as laid down by the process," paliwanag ni Lacierda.

Muli niyang sinabi na nirerespeto nila ang nararamdaman ng mga taga-suporta ni Aunor.

"We certainly understand the views of the Noranians and also the artistic community. Certainly, the work of Ms. Nora Aunor is recognized here and abroad."

Ipinaubaya rin ni Lacierda ang isyu sa pagbago ng proseso sa pagpili ng national artist sa mga eksperto.

"That is up to the legislators and to the artistic community to discuss how do we improve the process if they felt that there were some issues with the process," sabi ni Lacierda.

Nitong Biyernes ay anim na Pilipino ang kinilala bilang mga bagong national artist kabilang dito sina Alice Reyes para sa sayaw, Francisco Coching (posthumous) para sa visual arts, Cirilo Bautista sa literatura, Francisco Feliciano at Ramon Santos sa musika at Jose Maria Zaragoza sa arkitektura, design at allied arts.

Humingi na rin ng paliwanag ang action star na si Robin Padilla sa Palasyo kung bakit tinaggal si Aunor.

“Kapag sinabi na hindi siya nararapat para sa posisyon na yun, kailangan may eksplenasyon. Yun naman ang matagal ko nang tinanong: ano ang dahilan kung bakit siya tinaggal? Kasi hindi pwedeng no comment. Hindi pwede.”
