Durant, Thompson at Curry bumida

HOUSTON — Alam ni Kevin Durant na ins­pi­­radong maglalaro ang mga Rockets sa kanilang conference championships series.

Kaya naman dapat itong lampasan ng mga Warriors.

“We’re in the Western Conference Finals they are going to come out with a lot of energy,” sabi ni Durant. “We’re going to take that first punch and keep punching.”

Nagpasabog si Durant ng 37 points, habang nagdagdag si Klay Thompson ng 28 markers para ihatid ang Golden State sa 119-106 paggupo sa Houston sa Game One ng ka­nilang Western Confe­rence Finals.

Tumapos naman si Ste­phen Curry na may 18 points para sa Warriors, nasa kanilang conference finals para sa franchise-record na ikaapat na sunod.

Ito naman ang una pa­ra sa Houston, nakahugot kay James Harden ng 41 points, simula noong 2015 kung kailan nanalo ang Golden State, 4-1.

Ito ang unang playoff series ng Warriors na wala sila sa Oakland, Ca­lifornia simula noong 2014.

Sa balwarte pa rin ng Rockets gagawin ang Game Two sa Huwebes (Ma­nila time).

“You’re not going to come in and just knock them out,” wika ni Houston coach Mike D’Antoni. “There were too many times where we had mental lapses. We didn’t switch properly, turned the ball over and missed too many layups. We need to do a better job of staying up mentally.”

Nakabawi ang Gol­­den State mula sa nine-point de­ficit sa first pe­riod ba­go nakatabla sa halftime.

Ang three-point shot ni Eric Gordon ang nag­di­kit sa top-seeded na Rockets sa four-point de­ficit sa pagbubukas ng fourth period bago tumipa si Thompson ng walo sa pinakawalang 13-4 rat­sada ng Warriors para sa kanilang 100-87 pag­layo sa walong minuto ni­to.

Bumandera naman si Harden para idikit ang Houston sa 96-103 sa hu­ling limang minuto.

Nagsalpak si Thompson ng triple para ibigay sa Warriors ang 10-point lead sa huling apat na mi­nuto ng labanan.

“He’s one of the best sco­rers ever,” pagpuri ni D’Antoni sa 6-foot-8 na si Durant. “I thought he was extremely good. But we can withstand that. We can’t withstand turning the ball over and giving up so ma­ny wide open 3s.”
