Hindi lang ang mag-uncle na sina Robin at Daniel Padilla ang ‘‘magkakalaban’’ ang mga pelikula sa takilya ngayong Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) kung hindi maging ang mag-ama ring sina Joey at Winwyn Marquez na may kanya-kanya ring entry in this year’s filmfest event.
As in common knowledge, bida si Robin sa entry na 10,000 Hours na idinirek ni Bb. Joyce Bernal.
Si Daniel naman, together with perennial ka-love team na si Kathryn Bernardo ay bida sa Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay na idinirek naman ni Frasco Mortiz.
Robin’s entry is based on an account of a chapter in former Sen. Panfilo Lacson’s life nung pulis pa siya. 10,000 Hours has scenes shot in Amsterdam and some other parts of Southern Europe.
Theirs, too, Daniel beams, is the only horror-suspense entry in the movie.
Ganun man, ani Daniel, sana lahat ng entry sa MMFF ay kumita.
Ang pelikulang magkabangga nina Joey at Winwyn ay ang Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy at 10,000 Hours.
While Joey plays the father of Vice Ganda, who portrays all four roles of boy, girl, gay, and lesbian in their first movie together, si Winwyn naman ang gumaganap na anak ni Robin sa 10,000 Hours at introducing siya roon.
Contract talent na ng GMA 7 si Winwyn at balitang determined ang network to build her up as a big star. Tall, sexy, pretty, and a good dancer, Winwyn is featured every week sa Sunday All Stars. And her ultimate dream is to be a beauty queen like her Aunt Melanie Marquez, younger half-sibling ni Joey.
Yassi bubuhayin ang MTV
Watch out, too, for 18-year-old Yassi Pressman who plays leading lady to her former boyfriend Sef Cadayona in the MMFF entry Kaleidoscope World.
Under contract to Viva Films’ talent management, Viva Artists Agency, Yassi will be built up, according to Viva Group of Companies insiders, as their next important star.
Yassi, whose real first name is Yasmin, started in showbiz at a very young age. Half-British, she was five when she landed her first role in a teleserye.
Nasundan ito ng ilan pang series, kabilang na ang Tween Hearts and the primetime soap Anna Karenina, both produced by GMA 7.
Naka-appear na rin siya sa dalawang pelikula, Tween Academy and last year’s MMFF blockbuster movie Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako.
In the said movie, she pitted talents with two of the most popular leading men in local shows, Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr. and Vic Sotto.
Yassi is expected to shine even brighter in 2014 when she joins three other new video jockeys or VJs in the new MTV Pinoy Channel that will be launched in January.
Two illustrious female stars are already mga ‘‘poste’’ na, kumbaga, ng local MTV VJs. These are G Toengi and Donita Rose.
