Blue Thunder sasagupa sa Sea Lions sa UCAA finals
MANILA, Philippines - Sinikwat ng Rizal Technological University Blue Thunder ang ikalawang finals seat matapos resbakan ang Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars, 89-80, sa fourth quarter sa 12th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball tournament sa Olivarez College gymnasium sa Sucat, Parañaque.
Umiskor si Rennel Montecillo ng 26 points para banderahan ang Blue Thunder sa pagpasok sa finals.
Lalabanan ng Blue Thunder ang nagdedepensang Olivarez College Sea Lions sa isang best-of-three championship series.
Nakatakda ang Game 1 sa Lunes.
“I’m happy to be in the finals. First time kong mag-coach ng college team at maski hindi masyadong experienced ang team ko, we still made it,†sabi ni RTU coach Johnedel Cardel, miyembro ng 1988-1991 University Athletic Association of the Philippines grand-slam champion team La Salle.
Bumangon ang Blue Thunder mula sa isang six-point deficit sa fourth, 63-69, kasunod ang ratsada nina Montecillos at Felino Francisco para sa kanilang 70-69 abante sa 8:45 minuto na hindi na binitiwan pa.
