Alcala siblings kampeon sa Ming Youth Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Winalis nina Malvinne at Mark Shelley Alcala ang kanilang mga kalaban sa finals ng Under-19 ng PBA-Victor Ming Ramos Youth Cup Badminton Cham­pionships kahapon sa PSC Badminton Hall sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Tinalo ni Malvinne si Mariya Sevilla, 21-13, 21-10, sa girls’ finals, habang giniba ni Mark si Jon Masongsong, 21-15, 21-16, sa boys division.

Nauna nang pinayukod ni Mark ang kapwa national juniors team mainstay na si Wilson Lopez, 21-11, 21-14, upang sikwatin ang U-17 title sa annual five-day event na nagpaparangal kay Philippine Badminton Association honorary chairwoman at dating First Lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos.

Inangkin naman ni Airah Albo ng Phl Juniors squad ang girls’ U-17 title nang pagreteruhin si top seed Sarah Joy Barredo sa first set.

Ibinulsa ni Sevilla ang girls’ U-15 plum mula sa kanyang 21-12, 16-21, 21-15 panalo kay Barredo; habang ginapi ni Joaquin Pangilinan ng City Shuttle Pampanga si Angelo David, 21-19, 21-15, para kunin ang boys’ U-15 crown.

Binigo ni St. Scholastica Academy Bacolod bet Katrina Togado si Angelique Ramos, 21-15, 21-10, para pitasin ang girls’ U-13 title at iginupo ni Arthur Salvado Jr. ng Independent-Davao City si top seed Earl Baes ng Allied Victor-UP, 21-15, 5-21, 21-19, para sa boys’ U-13 diadem.

Dinomina ni No. 1 Yuan Tan ng JLTC si John Sanchez, 21-13, 21-10, at pinahiya ni Maxene Ola­ngo ng Sportszone-CDO/WBA si Anthea Gonzalez, 21-9, 21-15, upang iuwi ang U-11 titles sa event na may basbas ni Vice President Jejomar Binay katuwang sina chairman Manny Pangi­linan at sec-gen Rep. Albee Benitez.
