MANILA, Philippines - Malaki ang naitutulong ng libreng training camp para sa mga miyembro ng Philippine delegation na lalahok sa nalalapit na 30th Olympic Games sa London.
Ito ang sinabi ni Manny T. Lopez, ang Chef De Mission ng national contingent sa 2012 London Olympics na nakatakda sa Hulyo 27 hanggang Agosto 12.
“Talagang napakaganda ng ganitong sistema (libreng training camp). And I think it is bearing fruit dahil as early as now gumaganda ang kondisyon ng mga atleta natin and their performance is improving little by little. And aside from that, they’re getting the feel of the Olympics at this point in time,” ani Lopez.
Nasa kani-kanilang training camp ngayon sina swimmers Jasmine Alkhaldi at Jessie Khing Lacuna, skeet shooter Brian Rosario, long jumper Marestella Torres at long distance runner Rene Herrera.
Ang iba pang miyembro ng delegasyon ay sina boxer Mark Anthony Barriga, judoka Tomohiko Hoshina, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, BMX rider Daniel Caluag at archers Mark Javier at Rachel Ann Cabral.
Samantala, kabuuang 17 opisyales lamang ang makakasama ng 11 national athletes sa London Olympics, ayon kay Lopez.
Kasama sa 17 opisyales ang walong coaches at limang team managers bukod pa kina Lopez, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr.
