Differently-abled athletes tatanggap ng insentibo

MANILA, Philippines - Nakatakdang tanggapin ng mga diffe­rently-abled Filipino athletes ang kanilang mga cash incentives mula sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Ito ay mula sa kanilang paghakot ng gold, silver at bronze medals sa nakaraang 6th Association of Southeast Asian Nation Para Games sa Solo City, Indonesia noong Disyembre.

Si wheelchair-bound Josephine Medi­na na nagkaroon ng polio noong siya ay maliit pa ay tatanggap ng P87,500 para sa kanyang 4 golds, 1 silver at 1 bronze medal sa table tennis.

"This was just approved unanimously by the board and we will release the money as soon as we can complete the requirements," wika ni Atty. Guillermo Iroy, ang executive assistant kay PSC chairman Richie Garcia.

Kinuha ni Medina ang mga ginto sa singles class 6-10, singles class 7-8, mixed doubles class 9 kasama si Pablo Catalan, Jr. at sa women's team class 10 katuwang si Minnie Cadag.

Si swimmer Ernie Gawilan ay makakakuha naman ng P75,000 sa kanyang paghahari sa 100-meter backstroke S8, 200m individual medley S8 at 400m freestyle S8 event.

Tatanggap si trackster Panaligan Pru­dencia ng P65,000 mula sa kanyang da­lawang gold medals sa 200m T54 at 400m T54 at isang silver sa 100m T54.

Insentibong P60,000 ang ibubulsa ni swimmer Arnel Aba mula sa kanyang mga ginto sa 200m IM S9 at 400m free S9 at isang tanso sa 100m back S9 at si paraplegic Sander Severino, isang FIDE Master, ay tatanggap ng P42,000.
