Pagkakakulong walang epekto kay Mayweather

MANILA, Philippines - Inamin ni Jeff Maywea­ther, ang uncle/trainer ni Floyd Mayweather, Jr., na mag­kakaroon ng epekto ang pagkakakulong ng five-division champion sa pla­no nitong pag-akyat ng boxing ring sa Mayo 5, 2012.

Bagamat hindi tinukoy si Manny Pacquiao, ang Fi­lipino world eight-division titlist ang sinasabing gustong makasagupa ni May­wea­ther sa naturang petsa.

“It’s an unfortunate situation for him and hopefully he can put this behind him and move forward in a positive way and come back even better and stronger,” wi­ka kahapon ni Jeff. “90 days won’t affect his career but it may have some effect on the May 5th fight. But I guess we all will have to see how that plays out.”

Sisimulan ni Maywea­ther ang kanyang sentensya sa Enero 6, 2012 at ina­asahang makakalabas ng kulungan sa Abril 6.

Kung hindi na maita­takda ang laban kay Mayweather, posibleng ang bagong International Bo­xing Federation (IBF) at World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion na si Lamont Peterson ang makalaban ni Manny Pacquiao sa 2012.

Bitbit ni Pacquiao ang 54-3-2 win-loss-draw ring re­cord kasama ang 38 KOs, habang may 30-1-1 (15 KOs) mark si Peterson.

Sa kanyang pagkaka­kulong ng halos tatlong bu­wan, imposible nang mag­karoon si Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs) ng magandang training camp para sa isang laban.
