Irving No. 1 pick ng Cavs; Fredette sa Kings naman

NEWARK, N.J.-- Ilang minuto bago pa man magsi­mula ang NBA draft ay nakatakda nang magtungo si Kyrie Irving sa Cleveland bilang No. 1 pick.

Ilang oras naman ang hinintay ni Jimmer Fredette bago opisyal na naging miyembro ng Sacramento Kings.

Ilan pang players, mula sa mga veterans hanggang sa draft picks, ay nagalaw sa draft na sinasabing ma­babaw.

Si Irving ang inaasa­hang magiging kasangka­pan ng Cavs para sa mu­ling pagbuo ng kanilang koponan matapos ang paglipat ni LeBron James sa Miami Heat.

Ang dating pambato ng St. Patrick’s High School sa Elizabeth, hindi nagpakita ang Duke point guard ng pag-inda sa toe injury sa kanyang kanang paa kung saan 11 games lamang ang kanyang inilaro noong nakaraang US NCAA season sa kanyang pagkamay kay NBA Commissioner David Stern.

“I didn’t have any doubts about going to No. 1. I was looking to the organization to pick who they felt was the right choice,” ani Irving.

Isang three-team trade sangkot ang Charlotte, Milwaukee at Sacramento sa first round ang hindi naaprubahan bago ito naplantsa pagsapit ng second round kung saan hinintay ni Fredette ang halos 2 1/2 oras ang kanyang NBA destination.

Sina Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette at John Salmons ay bahagi naman ng three-way deal kagaya nina Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez, Raymond Felton at George Hill.
