ASAP age-group swimmers idedemanda si Joseph

MANILA, Philippines - Magsasampa ng kaso ang ilang age group swimmers laban kay Philippine Amateur Swimming Asso­ciation (PASA) president Mark Joseph ukol sa ginagawa nitong ‘threats at harassment’.

­Sa kanilang paglahok sa 43rd Sabah Invitational Swimming Meet sa Sabah, Malaysia, nag-email si Joseph sa mga organizers at sinabing hindi miyembro ng PASA ang mga age-group tankers.

Ang mga bagitong man­lalangoy ay kabilang sa Aquatic Sports Association of the Philippines (ASAP).

Ang naturang grupo ay inimbitahan ng Sabah Amateur Swimming Asso­ciation (SASA) para sa ka­nilang taunang swimming event at sinabihan ni Joseph na maaring mapatawan ng FINA, ang in­ternational swimming federation, sakaling pala­ngu­yin ang mga ito.

“We don’t know that there’s such a rule. We have been conducting this tournament the last 43 years but nobody ever told us we violated any rule when most our participants are not members of the Malaysian swimming association,” wika ng isang SASA official. Bukod rito, ilang isyu rin ang ibinato ng mga magulang ng age-group swimmers laban kay Joseph.

Ilan sa mga ito ay ang liderato ni Joseph, ang pagpapalit nito sa PASA bilang Philippine Aquatic Sports Association at ang mga hinahanap na P50 milyong public funds, sub­sidies ga­ling sa FINA, memberships ng mga swimmers, coa­ches, clubs at iba pang income gene­ra­ting reve­nues sa huling li­mang taon.

Isasampa ng grupo ang mga kaso laban kay Joseph sa kanilang mga korte sa Quezon City, Pampanga, Ma­nila, Cavite, Batangas at Zamboanga. (RC)
