Pinoy spikers may nais patunayan

MANILA, Philippines - Patutunayan ng national men's volleyball team na nararapat silang isama sa 25th Southeast Asian Games sa Laos.

Sinabi kahapon ni Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) secretary-general Otie Camangian na ito ay madedetermina sa magi-ging kampanya ng RP Team sa 15th Asian Men’s Senior Volleyball Championship na nakatakda sa Setyembre 26 hanggang Oktubre 5 sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium at San Andres gym.

"We will prove that our men's volleyball team deserves to participate in the 2009 Laos Southeast Asian Games," wika ni Cama-ngian kahapon sa lingguhang PSA sports forum sa Shakey's U.N. Avenue, Manila.

Ang men's volleyball squad ng PVF ay wala sa listahan ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) para sa 2009 Laos SEA Games sa Dis-yembre.

Ang men's senior volleyball tournament ang maituturing na kauna-unahang foreign exposure ng Nationals, ayon kay head coach Sammy Acaylar.

Ang mga miyembro ng RP Team ay binubuo nina 6-foot-1 Dante Alinsunurin, 6’1 Reny John Balse, 6’1 Clarence Esteban, 6’5 Sylvester Honrade, 6’3 Niño Jeruz, 5’9 Michael Cariño, 6’1 Edjet Mabbayad, 6’1 Jeffrey Malabanan, 6’0 Christian Fernandez, 5’9 Raffy Mosuela, 6’3 Chris Macasaet, Jessie Lopez, 6’2 Edcer Penetrante at 6’0 Mark Lee.

Ang mga makakatapat ng Nationals sa nasabing torneo ay ang nagdedepensang Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Iran, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, Chinese-Taipei, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Qatar at Maldives.

Nakatakda naman ang 8th Asian Volleyball Confe-deration General Assembly sa Setyembre 26 na inaasahang dadaluhan ni AVC President Dr. Saleh Bin Nasser. (RCadayona)
