Record sa Rapid fire binaril ni Padilla

MANILA, Philippines - Sinira ni veteran shooter Nathaniel ‘Tac’ Padilla ang record sa national rapid fire pistol record nitong weekend upang pamunuan ang walong shooters na nagqualify sa 25th Laos Southeast Asian Games sa Disyembre.

Nagpaputok ang 45-gulang na si Padilla, general manager ng kanilang business na Spring Cooking Oil ng 577 puntos para higitan ang dati niyang record na 572, ang parehong iskor na itinala ng 2007 Bangkok SEAG medalist na si Adzha Hafiz ng Malaysia.

Sasabak si Padilla, nanalo ng kanyang unang international gold medal sa Benito Juarez junior competition sa Mexico City nang siya ay 12-taong gulang pa lamang, sa kanyang ika-16th SEAG sa Laos na record na rin.

Ang iba pang shooters na nakapasa sa criteria ng POC at PSC para makasama sa Laos ay sina Carolino Gonzales ng PAGCOR, Emerito Concepcion (Meralco), S/Sgt. Eddie Thomas (Army), Ronald Hejastro, M/Sgt Robert Donalvo (Marines), Shanin Gonzales (Tagaytay), Ruth Ricardo (Ateneo) at Mica Padilla (Assumption College).

Sina Gonzales, Ricardo at Mica, mga produkto ng PNSA National Youth Development Program, ay nakahigit sa silver medal score ng huling SEAG sa 10-meter air pistol team event, habang sina Padilla, Hejastro at Donalvo ay laging nakakahigit sa medal tally ng huling SEAG sa 25-meter standard pistol team event competition.

“I feel I’m in good shape as we move closer to the SEA Games,” ani Padilla, na pumasok na noong Pebrero pa lamang. “I’d definetely try to bring home a gold, knowing I’d be competing in the biennial regional sportsfest for 32 years now.”

Tulad ni Padilla, sina Concepcion at Gonzales ay beterano din ng SEAG.
