World’s top pool players magtitipun-tipon
Magtitipun-tipon ang mga mahuhusay na pool players sa mundo sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon sa “Queen City of the South” para paglabanan ang mga pangunahing parangal at premyo sa First Senate President Manny Villar Cup Cebu Leg, sa June 20 to 22 sa Atrium of SM City Cebu.
Mismong ang hari na si Efren “Bata” Reyes na gagamit ng mahika para sa ikalawang Villar Cup na inaasahang isa na namang world-class event.
“As I’ve promised during our kickoff leg, I will bring the Villar Cup to the provinces to give our kababayans a chance to see in flesh our world class Filipino billiards players, and give those aspiring players there a chance to compete with them,” wika ni Senator Vil-lar sa press conference kahapon sa Trade Hall ng StarMall EDSA sa Mandaluyong City.
May kabuuang P1M ang nakataya sa torneong ito na proyekto ng Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) at co-organized ng Bugsy Promotions, Puyat Sports, Negros Billiards Stable at Camella Communities.
Bukod kay Reyes, lalahok din sa P400,000 top prize sina dating world champions Ronnie Alcano at Alex Pagulayan, dating world no.1 Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante, kasalukuyang world’s top-ranked cue artist Dennis Orcollo, 2007 World Pool runner-up Roberto Go-mez, reigning national ti-tlist Lee Van Corteza at dating Asian Games gold medalist Gandy Valle.
Idedepensa naman ni three time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Warren Kiamco na naghari sa Villar Cup first leg, ang kanyang korona sa sariling balwarte.
May kabuuang 64 players ang lalahok sa main draw na 20 sa kanila ay mga seeded. Kasama sa seeded players sina Rodolfo Luat, Joven Bustamante, Jharome Pena, Carlo Biado, Ramil Gallego, Ricky Zerna, Jundel Mason, Elmer Haya, Rubilen Amit, Mary Ann Ba-sas at Villar Cup first leg Sipag at Tiyaga division champion Benson Palce.
