Manila venues ‘OK’ sa mga Thai officials

Pasado sa mga bumusitang sports officials ng Thailand ang mga binisitang venues sa Metro Manila kahapon na gagamitin para sa 23rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games na nakatakda sa Nov. 27 hanggang Dec. 5.

Sinabi ni Chaiyapak Siriwat, vice-president ng Thailand Olympic Commit-tee, na matatapos ang mga renova-tions ng mga venues bago pa man itanghal ang biennial meet at ang tangi lamang niyang pangamba ay ang sobrang traffic sa Maynila.

"It’s going out pretty well," ani Siriwat, vice president din ng Thai Lawn Tennis Association at chairman ng football de-velopment program sa kanilang bansa. "We only worry about the traffic thing and the place for our athletes to stay. It’s going to be more than this during the SEA Games. We have to prepare."

Malaking pangamba ang kalat-kalat na venues ng kompetisyon sa Metro Manila, at satellite venues sa Cebu at Bacolod.

"A lot of nations, not only Thailand. Many nations are worried when they ask the POC (Philippine Olympic Committee) about this. But the rest is fine," dagdag ni Siriwat.

Sinamahan kahapon ni PHILSOC venue committee member Cesar Pradas si Siriwat at ang ibang Thai officials at mediamen, sa venues ng cycling sa Luneta, Muay Thai at bodybuilding sa GSIS compound, at athletics, gymnas-tics, baseball, lawn tennis at table tennis sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Kasunod nito ay ang Emilio Aguinal-do College para sa wushu at arnis, Makati Sports Club para sa squash, Manila Golf Club para sa women’s golf, Fort Bonifacio para sa shooting at PhilSports Arena para sa badminton.

Ang isa pang grupo ng Thai officials at mediamen ay nagtungo sa Cebu ka-hapon at didiretso ng Bacolod sa Lunes para sa hiwalay na ocular inspection. Nakatakda ring bisitahin ni Siriwat ang mga venues sa Subic, Los Baños at Tagaytay.
