"Our Checkmate students are preparing for the event and are eager to pit their skills against other talented players," ani Emperado, na siyang humawak sa nasabing programa na naging matagumpay noon. "This is also our way of suppor-ting the NCFP under Mr. (Mat) Defensor."

Ang Milo Checkmate ang siyang naging produkto ng dalawang world championship qualifier na sina International Masters Mark Paragua at Ronald Dableo.

Ang Checkmate contingent ay pangungunahan nina World Open-bound Emmanuel Emperado, Kenneth Rovillos, Brena Mae Membrere, Malcolm Kwok, Anthony Angelo Seloterio at Jan Nigel Galan.

Ang iba pang Checkmate standouts na lalahok ay sina Gabriel Layugan, Haridas Pascua, Rommel delos Santos, Julius Joseph de Ramos, Cristy Bernales, Aissa Chua, Christian Flores, Ray-mund Astillero, Whiz Noche, Might Noche, Lev Abug, Ace Amplayo, Camila Buduan, Paulo Duay, Ron Enoch Canlas, Lei Canlas, Edwin Bolivar, Ernest Nathan, Justin Dumayag, Perry Ang, Perseus Balite, Kim Kaizen Lo, David Lo, Ynna Canape at Jerome Corpuz; John Lazaro, JC Marquez, Olar Claudio, Aldous Coronel, James Alindog, Aaron Eleccion at Miguel Lahoz.
