Layunin ng Manila Sports Academy na mabigyan ng edukasyon at sports training ang mga kabataang magtatagumpay sa Manila Youth Games (MYG) partikular na ang mga out-of-school youth at mabigyan ng oportunidad ang mga ito na maitatag ang kani-kanilang mga sarili bilang produktibong mamamayan.
"As an incentive, the City Government of Manila will grant scholarships and shall continue to support the training of the citys outstanding performers in the Batang Pinoy, as well as the MYG," pahayag ni Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.
"The Academy is expected to bring sports scholarship holders together in one place for long-term residential sports programs where social, educational, medical, and vocational needs are also addressed," wika naman ni Manila Sports Council (MASCO) Chief Ali Atienza, anak ni Mayor Atienza.
Samantala, kasalukuyan ng isinasagawa ang preparasyon para sa 1st Manila Youth Games kung saan sinisimulan na ng organizing MASCO ang serye ng strategic na pag-uusap para sa ibat ibang offices at organization.
Nakatakdang ganapin ang MYG sa Abril 7-14 na isang comprehensive mass-based sports development program para sa siyudad at mga out-of-school youth na may edad 12 pababa.
Ang mga sports na paglalabanan sa MYG ay ang athletics, badminton, chess, dance sports, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, girls little league softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo at volleyball.
