13 pang atleta tatanggap ng GMIAP mula sa PSC

Tinupad ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Eric Buhain ang kanyang pangako na uunahin niyang asikasuhin ang mga pangangailangan ng mga atleta nang kanyang aprubahan kamakailan ang pagbabayad sa 13 nalalabing aplikante para sa Gratuity and Monthly Incentive Allowance Plan (GMIAP).

"Some of these beneficiaries are either sick, dead or without any means of livelihood. It is indeed a shame to neglect these past heroes who have brought honor and glory to our country," pahayag ni Buhain.

Layunin ng GMIAP na nilikha noong 1997 sa pamamagitan ng Administrative Order No. 352 na mabigyan ng insentibo ang mga atletang Pinoy na naging bahagi sa mga nakaraang Olympics, Asian Games at World Championships.

Sa nakalipas na taon, ipinagkaloob ng PSC ang nasabing gratuity benefits sa mga atletang Pinoys gaya ni Anthony Villanueva, Roel at Onyok Velasco, Simeon Toribio, Paeng Nepomuceno, Lydia de Vega-Mercado at Mona Sulaiman.

Ang mga tatanggap ng insentibo ay ang mga swimmers na sina Dolores Agustin Gonzales, Rudy Agustin, Arnulfo Valles, Sukarno Maut, Betina Abdula Ampoc, Kemalpasa Umih at Armando Jimenez. Softball Blue Girls Carmelita Velasco, Mariquita Salazar Smith, Marietta Ballesteros, Josefina Cruz Stewart, Patricia Sta. Maria Nicdao at basketball Andres dela Cruz.
