Milo Junior Tennis Cup: Orteza kampeon sa girls' 14 -under

Pinayukod ni Melissa Orteza si Julie Em Botor, 6-4, 6-2 kahapon upang makopo ang girls’ 14-under title sa 2001 Milo Junior Tennis Cup and Regional Workshop sa Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Sa boys’ 18-under division, ginapi ni Ian de Guzman si Patrick John Tierro ng Holy Infant College-Olongapo, 6-4, 7-5 upang umusad sa finals kontra Yannick Guba ng St. Benilde-Bacolod na umiskor ng 6-0, 6-2 panalo kontra Jandrick de Castro ng La Salle-Greenhills.

Sa boys 14-under class, tinalo ni Arithmetico Lim ng Chiang Kai School si Ed Angelo Diez ng Davao, 6-1, 6-2 upang ipuwersa ang kanilang title showdown ni Hamza Macapendeg ng Cotabato City na umiskor ng 6-0, 6-1 pamamayani kontra Bryan Deo Dayleg ng Colegio de San Agustin.

Nauna rito, sinilat ni Leyan Moncera ng Olongapo City si Patrick Arevalo ng Ilocos Norte, 6-1, 6-4 at nanaig si Christian Canlas ng Ateneo kay Johnwill Baldonado ng Colegio de San Agustin, 6-0, 6-4 upang makarating sa boys’ 12-under finals ng netfest na ito na inorganisa ng Children’s Tennis Workshop at suportado ng Adidas at Sports Kids.

Sa girls division, umentra si Tracy Bautista ng Imus Cavite sa 18-under finals matapos ang 3-0 (ret.) decision kontra German Angela Wolff.

Ang iba pang nakakuha ng championship berths sa girls’ 16-under category ay sina Bernardine Sepulveda ng Sacred Heart School-Cebu na tumalo naman kay Wolff, 6-3, 6-1 at Ivy de Castro ng Mirriam College na umiskor ng 6-0, 6-1 panalo kontra Julie Base.

Sa girls’ 12-under class, pinabagsak ni Bambi Zoleta ng Mary Hills College-Lucena City si Julie Ann Jopia ng Cebu, 6-3, 6-2 at umusad sa finals kontra Jessica Agra ng Colegio de San Agustin na kinailangan ng deciding set bago niya napayukod si Julie Em Botor ng Morning Dew Montessori-Cainta, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
