Pinoy boxers sasabak sa King's Cup sa Thailand

Muling ipagpapatuloy ang paghahanap ng mahuhusay na Filipino amateur boxers upang pamunuan ang kampanya ng bansa sa nalalapit na Southeast Asian Games sa pag-alis ng seven-man Team Philippines patungong Bangkok, Thailand ngayon upang sumabak sa mahigpitan at prestihiyosong 24th King’s Cup International Amateur Boxing Championships.

Isinabak ng Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) para sa Hulyo 1-7 event sina SEA Games gold medalist Juanito Magliquian (light flyweight), World Youth Veteran Vincent Palicpe (flyweight), Roel Laguna (featherweight), Esmael Baciongon (lightweight) at ang mga rookies na sina Alex Pedroso (bantamweight), welterweight Marcial Chavez at light welter Julito Paller na magdadala sa kampanya ng national colors.

"We are very serious to do good in the coming SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that’s why we want to determine who’s the best in the various categories and only the best will represent our country in the SEA Games," ani ABAP chief Manny Lopez.

Itinalagang head coach si Orlando Tacu-yan ng nationals na aasistihan ng isa sa naging bayani ng bansa sa ibabaw ng lona na si Roberto Jalnaiz, nag-iisang gold medalist sa Beijing Asiad kasama si Max Acosta na magsisilbing isa sa referees/judges sa King’s Cup.

"As in the past, the King’s Cup provides just the right training and exposure to our boxers. To the rookies of the Team Philippines, this will serve as their baptism of fire," dagdag pa ni Lopez.
