RP boxers pa-China bilang paghahanda sa SEAG

At dahil sa kagustuhang muling maibalik ng Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines ang reputasyon bilang isa sa pinakapreparadong local national sports association sa kanilang pagkampanya sa international multi-event competitions, isasagawa nila ang unang major step sa kanilang buildup sa para ngayong taong Southeast Asian Games sa pagpapadala ng kanilang limang boxers na naghahangad ng slot sa national team sa China.

Ang delegasyon ay pangungunahan ni Ben Ching, vice president ng Fil-Chinese Sports Federation, ang seven-man squad ay binubuo nina light flyweight Harry Tanamor, flyweight Sonny Dollente, bantamweight Rico Moreno, featherwight Ismael Bacongon, light welterweight Junie Tizon at coaches Glicerio "Boy" Catolico at Orlando Tacuyan.

Sasabak ang Filipinos sa preliminaries ng Chinese National Sports Games sa Fujian simula sa Peb. 20-28.

"This team will be the first Philippine contingent to campaign outside the country this year. The competitions will be tough since the event will be the Chinese’s preparation for their national games," wika ni ABAP president Manny T. Lopez.

Nakatakdang umalis ang koponan sa Peb. 18 na layuning ibigay ang kanilang makakaya upang makapag-uwi ng karangalan sa bansa.
