Bike
MANILA, Philippines - The scenic bike course is flat with great potential for disk wheel but it could also be potentially windy. Riders will head out from CWC to Nato Port and back with the view of Mt. Isarog perfectly on their side. There will be five aid stations every 15kms. Volunteers will hand out Gatorade and water on all the aid stations. Portalets will be available at the turn around.
The first and last two kilometers of the course will have a lot of technical turns as riders head out and come in at CWC.
There will be roving mechanics that would assist participants with mechanical or equipment failures. Those using tubular tires are advised to bring their own spares.
All roads will be fully closed. However, all athletes are advised to ride street-smart.
Expect extreme conditions, weather can be scorching hot or drizzling with rain.
Swim
Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines swim course is entirely on a manmade lake. Fresh water is pumped-in daily. It is less buoyant than sea water.
The first leg of the swim course will be on the bigger “Lago Del Ray” lake. Swimmers will do a clockwise loop that measures 1.22kms. After which, athletes will have to cross to the smaller “CWC Cable Park” lake. They will do an additional 580meter counter clockwise loop before they can head out to T1.
Water quality is good and safe. Visibility is limited but not murky. Water temperature is suitable for speed suits but wet suits will not be allowed.
The swim will be a mass start for Professionals, Filipino Elites and Age-Groupers. After a few minutes, the Relay participants will start behind.
Wake board ramps and structures will be on course and might pose some hazards to swimmers. They will be clearly marked by the organizers but caution should be taken by the swimmers to avoid them.
Run
The run course is also flat with the exception of two short and steep hills. It will take runners to the countryside sceneries while passing through small local communities. Athletes will need to do two counter clockwise loops. Each loop is with measurement of 10kms.
After the second loop, athletes will need to cross to do the smaller lake to do their last 1.1 km run to the finish.
There will be five aid stations on the run. Each station is 2kms apart. Gatorade and water shall be available on all the stations. Sponges will also be available on some of the aid stations.
