Fashion Can Serve
October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness month throughout the world. In the Philippines, ICanServe Foundation is committed to its advocacy of awareness and early detection of breast cancer. This is done mainly through its flagship program, Ating Dibdibin, which is the first community-based breast cancer screening program in the country.
ICanServe and Marie France recently partnered to present “Fashion Can Serve” at the Raffles Makati ballroom.
Fashion designers Lulu Tan Gan, Rhett Eala, Rajo Laurel, Maureen Disini, Kristel Yulo and Eric de los Santos supported the event via a fashion show. What made this fashion show different was each designer had two to three muses who were either ICanServe members/survivors themselves (such as Patty Betita, Bernie Aboitiz, Toni Abad, Leah Caringal, ICanServe co-founder Crisann Celdran, Maritoni Fernandez, Alya Honasan, Allure’s Michelle Dayrit Soliven, Ann Puno and Julie Torres) or big endorsers/supporters of the foundation like Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Bianca Araneta-Elizalde, Agot Isidro, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Rissa Mananquil-Trillo and Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo. These muses elicited smiles and joyful tears from the audience as each one was a striking example of this commitment to help as many women as possible.
SM Woman and Sabina were presenters of the event. Major sponsors were Security Bank, Del Monte Philippines, Globe Platinum and Rado. Other sponsors included SSI Group Inc., Wilcon Depot and Ortigas & Co. Media partners included 2nd Avenue, The Philippine STAR and Golden Touch Imaging.

A scentsational affair
The global iconic brand Lux has captured the hearts of women all over the world with its alluring fragrances that contain fine ingredients and exotic flowers.
Recently, the brand introduced its House of Lux to the local market. Crafted by master perfumers from New York, London and Paris, the new Lux Perfumed Bath Collection gives the modern Filipina the luxury of bathing with perfume every day.
Guests experienced a multi-sensorial evening where they were immersed into the world of Lux fine fragrances with the help of master perfumer Nicole Mancini of Givaudan, one of the world’s leading fragrance companies.
Mancini, the woman behind scents for Victoria’s Secret, Juicy Couture and St. Regis Hotels, among many others, took the guests through a fragrance master class where she talked about how fragrances create certain emotional experiences in a person’s life. She also revealed the art behind crafting fine fragrance as guests re-created Lux’s signature variant, Magical Spell. They dipped, dropped and sniffed their way to creating their own versions of the statement fragrance, which they got to take home in personalized glass bottles.
Unilever marketing director for skin Mian Datu-David welcomed the audience and said, “Scents play an important role in the lives of the Filipinas. A whiff of a familiar fragrance can take a person back to days thought to be forgotten or (remind him or her of) precious moments. Fine fragrances that evoke such emotions have been captured so well in the Lux bottle but have never before been seen in a body wash, which is why Unilever Philippines thought that it would be perfect for the Philippine market.”
