PARIS, France — On the eve of the National Day for the Prevention of Food Waste last week, Arash Derambarsh, one of the initiators of the law forcing major retailers to give unsold items to charity, checks that it is being properly applied.
He inspects the bins around supermarkets in Paris, accompanied by a bailiff.
"Retailers can no longer discuss it, they must apply the law. Once again, all the companies that will apply this law will be our allies. All those that refuse to apply it will be our opponents and we will make them bend," Derambarsh said.
