MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways has opened the Culiat Bridge II along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City for buses, the DPWH announced yesterday.

The bridge was closed to vehicles after a fire damaged some portions and gutted a community underneath the structure on July 11. Light vehicles were allowed to pass through the bridge since July 27.

According to the DPWH, the bridge was subjected to testing and analytical road rating before it was opened to buses starting at 6 a.m. yesterday.

The DPWH said the bridge remains closed to trucks as it has yet to undergo heavy vehicle testing to check its integrity.
