Our voyage to change begins
MANILA, Philippines - The ship of our Republic is all set to sail after our Captain, P-Noy, and his co-captain, VP-Nay, would have been officially inaugurated in characteristically-simple ceremonies on Wednesday, June 30th. It marks the beginning of our historic voyage for a meaningful change! And the Herculean task of navigating our ship to that place called PEACE and PROSPERITY begins.
The ballooned budget deficit of P300B, the P4.3T inherited debt, widespread corruption, massive unemployment, grinding poverty, worsening moral decadence, etc. — mirror the daunting situation we all must grapple with. P-Noy, in all fairness, must not be expected to do miracles and overturn these overwhelming, situations - alone. Every Filipino has a task to do, a unified responsibility to undertake.
As our ship’s Captain, P-Noy should be given the courtesy of selecting his crew members he is most confident in and comfortable to work with, not handed down to him through midnight appointments.
The maiden press conference held by P-Noy after his proclamation was refreshing, warm and down-to-earth. His replies to the varied questions thrown at him reflected some traits of Ninoy, Cory and even Kris with his inherent candidness. With him at the helm of our ship, Filipinos feel a strong sense of relief, renewed vigorous hope, and aspiration — knowing we have an honest, transparent, accountable, respectable President. Truly and unques-tionably elected by the Filipinos. An incorruptible President, who, without doubt — will NOT steal from the government coffers, and has the country’s best interest reigning supreme in his heart and mind.
We pray that P-Noy’s unquestionable HIT — Honesty, Integrity, Truthfulness, and dedication to our welfare — will rub on to his cabinet members, to all government officials, and to us to make and maintain our ship seaworthy at all times. Inescapably, our challenging voyage for a much-deserved change will be rough and tough, at times besieged by typhoons, and blocked by icebergs of corruption. However, with patience, perseverance, hard work, marked by HIT and unrelenting faith, we shall overcome — if we all help in every way we can!
P-Noy needs us all — our country and people desperately cry for salvation! United, let us do our share. For as Ninoy, declared to Noynoy: “There is no greater nation on earth than our beloved Motherland. No greater people than ours. Serve them with all your heart, with all your might, and with all your strength.”
May Ninoy’s stirring supreme love of our country and people inspire, guide, strengthen, and help P-Noy, his entire crew members and us in doing our BEST … in our long-and-winding quest for peace and prosperity enjoyed by all Filipinos!!! So, help us, God.
