FPLA nurtures future nation builders

MANILA, Philippines - Fulfilling its mission to nurture future leaders in the country, the First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA) — a premier executive leadership training company chaired by businessman, Manuel V. Pangilinan — staged recently the second season of its executive program, “Crafting Chapters and Lessons in Thought Leadership.”

This program aims to provide public school student leaders access to learning from luminaries in different fields and industries.

This year, the company took a different route by exposing student leaders to a symposium-cum-opera that is inspired by Filipino artist Juan Luna, who is best known for his award-winning and critically acclaimed painting “Spoliarium.”

“Our program promises to serve as a true testament to the level of excellence that our invited speakers have attained in their respective fields. It provides our young leaders inspiration on how to become extraordinary and contribute to the country,” Raphael Paolo Arguillo, FPLA head for marketing and communications, said.

Attended by over 800 young leaders, the event kicked off with a round of talks from experts who shared their insights on their chosen disciplines.

Among the speakers were Philippine-based Argentinean priest Luciano Felloni, teacher and Ramon Magsaysay Emergent Leadership awardee Randy Halasan, singer and award-winning author Celine Fabie, internationally acclaimed tenor Randy Gilongo, classical violin prodigy Regina Buenaventura, eco-tourism entrepreneur and innovator Bryan Benitez-McClelland, chef and restaurateur Margarita Araneta Fores, public health specialist and psychologist Margarita Holmes and Gilas Pilipinas team captain Jimmy Alapag.

“I believe we really need to expose our youth to thought leaders and trailblazers to empower them to think of great things they can do for our country and start young,” said Arguillo.

Following the symposium, the participants were treated to an opera titled “Spoliarium,” which was inspired by the life of Juan Luna. The play, written by Fides Cuyugan-Asensio with music composed by Ryan Cayabyab, narrated the milestones that led to Luna’s greatness.

The three-act opera, according to FPLA, intends to expose students to the realities of individual greatness. It hopes to encourage them to explore the different facets and applications of the principles of excellence, leadership, and innovation in various fields.

Since 1999, FPLA has been a premier training and development avenue with its duality and integrative nature of providing leadership programs and world-class facilities to companies and professionals.

The event was held in partnership with Metro Pacific Tollways, Meralco, First Pacific Co. Ltd., Maynilad, PLDT Home and PLDT SME Nation.
