Negros State U prepares students for career in IT, BPO

MANILA, Philippines - The Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) will start offering Service Management Program (SMP) this school year to help prepare students for a career in the information technology and business process outsourcing industry.

“We are enthusiastic about the program because it will instil and nurture important qualities and skills in our students that are essential for them to build a career in the information technology and business process management industry,” NORSU president Don Vicente Real said.

SMP was developed by members of the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

NORSU teachers recently completed training to teach the SMP, a specialized track in service management focusing on the services industry for Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and for Information Technology Education programs.

It includes training in Business Communication, Service Culture, Principles of Systems Thinking, Fundamentals of Business Process Outsourcing 101 and 102, and a 600-hour internship program.
