DLSU-D joins int’l schools in GreenMetric list

MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle University- Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), a university at the forefront of environmental advocacies, made it to the list of Universitas Indonesia  GreenMetric World University Ranking 2013 which was released in January of 2014. DLSU-D ranked 78th out of the 301 universities from 61 countries worldwide. 

The ranking compares universities’ efforts towards campus sustainability and environment-friendly university management. This initiative was developed in 2010 to promote awareness among university leaders and stakeholders on sustainability issues, especially in the face of challenges in society and economy that can be addressed with the sustainable use of resources. DLSU-D, through its Green DLSU-D drive, is one of only two Philippine universities to enter the GreenMetric ranking.

The participating universities were evaluated in six categories: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water treatment, transportation, and education. DLSU-D posted a total score of 5,857 while the University of Nottingham in UK, the school that ranked the highest, garnered total score of 7,521.
